Ingredients (serves 2)
2 small apples, with skin
1 tsp lemon juice
30g peanut butter
- If you won’t be eating these tasty treats right away, start by brushing the apples slices with lemon juice to keep them from turning brown.
- Spread one side of half of the apple slices with a natural peanut butter. Top with remaining apple slices, pressing down gently to make the sandwiches.
- Apples should be consumed from August to February. Apples are rich in sugars (glucose, fructose, and sucrose). They contain useful amounts of fibre, vitamin C and potassium. Guercetin, a flavonoid that may help protect against heart disease, is also present.
- Peanuts are a source of plant protein. They are rich in Vitamin B6 which helps store energy and caries oxygen in the body.
